Berry was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Before becoming an actress, she worked as a model and competed in beauty pageants. She was named Miss Ohio USA in 1986, finished as first runner up in Miss USA, and later competed in the Miss World pageant.
Dorothy Dandridge
Berry portrayed actress and singer Dorothy Dandridge in the 1999 television film Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Her performance earned her both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award and became one of the defining roles of her early career.
Making Oscar History
