🏙️ A COMEDIAN IN THE MAKING
Jordan Haworth Peele was born in New York City and grew up on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. He attended Sarah Lawrence College before leaving to pursue comedy, eventually performing with the improvisational troupe Boom Chicago in Amsterdam.
😂 A COMEDY DUO IS BORN!
Peele met Keegan-Michael Key while working on the sketch comedy series MADtv. The pair later created Key & Peele, which ran from 2012 to 2015 and became known for clever sketches about popular culture, identity, and everyday misunderstandings.
🎬 FROM LAUGHTER TO FEAR
Peele made his feature directing debut with Get Out in 2017, a psychological horror film that uses suspense to explore racism and social behavior. Made on a modest budget, the movie became a major box-office success and received four Academy Award nominations.
🏆 AN OSCAR-WINNING SCREENPLAY
At the 2018 Academy Awards, Peele won Best Original Screenplay for Get Out. He became the first Black writer to win that award, marking a historic achievement for a filmmaker who had previously been best known for comedy.
✂️ EVERYONE HAS A DARK SIDE
Peele followed Get Out with Us in 2019, starring Lupita Nyong’o as a woman confronted by terrifying doubles of her family. The film combined horror, mystery, and social commentary while turning an ordinary family vacation into a nightmare.
🌟 LOOK UP… IF YOU DARE!
In Nope (2022), Peele blended science fiction and horror in a story about mysterious events above a California horse ranch. Through his production company Monkeypaw Productions, he has also supported other filmmakers and continued exploring unusual stories that challenge audience expectations.
